
Votive by Allison Hedgpeth
Allison Hedgpeth is a fine arts painter, printmaker, and teacher. She earned her B.F.A. in painting from the Kansas City Art Institute, and an M.A. in Studio Art from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. She, also, studied printmaking at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.
Ms. Hedgpeth has had several one-person shows in the Kansas City area, Scottsdale and Mesa Arizona. Her work is in private collections across the United States, England, and Spain. She has held teaching positions at UMKC, and the Nelson Art Gallery in Kansas City, as well as conducted class at community centers, and private instruction. Public collections of her work include the Kansas City Kansas Community College, and the State Stret Bank.
“Painting is like dreaming. The pictures are a result of the dream. I celebrate the human experience through visual storytelling. Most of the image are from memory combined with life studies, photographic studies, and are brightly colored to emphasize expression rather than realism. My offering to the viewer is the poetry of line, color, and the evocation of emotion.”
