The opening reception for the artists will be held March 5th, 2010 at the Pi Gallery in Kansas City’s Crossroads district. The artists reception begins at 6:00 PM and the awards ceremony is scheduled for 8:00 PM. This traveling exhibition is sponsored by Northeast Arts KC, Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund, Pi Gallery, UMB Bank, and Central Bank of Kansas City. More information on the traveling exhibition can be found on the Northeast Arts KC web site.
Theme
“Culture is the fineness of feelings, thought, tastes, manners, customs, arts, music, ethnic language and architecture. Kansas City has many ethnic and social cultures living within its borders. Each group “carries” within itself customs, symbols and images of its own uniqueness and distinction from that of other groups. At the same time, each group operates within a larger framework of neighborhood, district or economic region.
Borders typically separate and divide rather than include. The theme of this exhibition is to produce a work based on the idea of Cultures Without Borders. Our intent is to challenge individuals to focus on their unique similarities and rich diversities. Works submitted should express an interpretation of your culture.”

Allison,
Congratulations! So disapointed that we had to leave before this opening. Would have loved to go to it and celebrate with you. Wish we would have been able to see some of your paintings while we were there.

Sue,
Well, thanks and we were sorry to see you go, too! We just appreciate the time we have together. Keep watching this site, and we’ll post some pics. Got another show coming up on the 15th. at the Argentine library. Prints, and mixed media.
